Knievel was born in Montana. His paternal background is German, while his mother was of Irish ancestry. Knievel was a motorcycle daredevil and he attended many movie stunts and shows all his life. He was inspired by the Joie Chitwood show as a child and decided he would be someone like the stuntmen he saw there. He believed he could pull off similar stunts on his bike.

He started his own show named Bobby Knievel and his motorcycle daredevils, but the name was later changed to Evil Knievel and His Motorcycle Daredevils. He hired several performers, coordinators, and other necessary men to build up his show and raise his business.

The Man Who Rode Over 15 Cars

Knievel began his career in 1966, at the National Date Festival in California. One time he jumped over 15 cars but people wanted and encouraged him to clear more cars when he had a serious crash and suffered a deadly injury and a serious concussion.

Became A Famous Name In The Stuntmen?s World

Knievel also appeared on a TV show called the late-night show Joey Bishop, after which he became popular all over the United States, as a daredevil. He died in 2007 when he was aged 69, as a result of pulmonary disease.
