New Amsterdam is an American TV drama series based on the genre of medical drama. The drama is an adaptation of the famous book Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital written by a veteran medical doctor Eric Manheimer. The drama was premiered on NBC in September 2018.
The drama series has a very attractive and gripping script and the plot revolves around the character of Dr. Max Goodwin who has become the management head or medical director of a hospital in the United States. The hospital is one of the oldest public hospitals in the USA.
The newly appointed director has an intention to bring reforms to the system. He believes the hospital has been neglected and decides to tear apart and scrutinize the management tiers and bureaucracy so that the hospital can be changed and top-quality services and medical care can be provided to the patients.

When the new director of operations is hired by the hospital, it is revealed that Lauren is a drug addict. She has a tough time interacting with other doctors and has psychological difficulties. She finally seeks medical help.
