Opening Ceremony is a fashion brand that was founded in 2002 by Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, two giants in American fashion, known for their unique fashion trends and styles.
The brand has its own unique selling point and its product range is very stylish attractive too. They create their own products and focus on emerging fashion trends.
Opening Ceremony is famous for its exotic fashion shows and for being very vocal on global issues. In the year 2020, the brand announced that due to bankruptcy it would close down all its tangible, physical stores.
The company started when Carol Lim, one of the founders of the brand, was highly inspired in Hong Kong to set up her own fashion business by the name of Opening Ceremony in the City of New York in 2002. Since then the brand has worked together with many different brands and clothing firms.
The very well-known collaborators and partners of the business are Justin Peck, Chloe Sevigny, New York City Ballet, and Spike Jonze. The brand was rated among the top four best stores in the world by the famous American magazine Complex.
On the 13th of January 2020, the brand was taken over by the New Guards Group which is a group that owns Off-white and other very well-known brands of casual outerwear and streetwear.
The company has been a success ever since it began and it has launched many new and different series of clothes and outfit lines. In 2015 the Opening Ceremony launched its ready-to-wear collection at a fashion show to display its products.
The models who displayed the Opening Ceremony clothes and outfits at the show improvised the performance by falling down purposefully and then rising back to music. Ready to wear collection was a great idea and it sold in many numbers, as it was opposed to the idea of bespoke clothing.
Opening Ceremony Black Letterman Jacket is made up of wool and cowhide leather. There is an inner viscose lining to keep the jacket warm and cozy.
