Beth Harmon is a character from the recently launched popular drama series The Queen’s Gambit. The show goes on the air on Netflix.
It’s a drama based on the 1983 novel written by the famous novelist Walter Tevis, who wrote the story inspired the real events of his own life, therefor the plot of the drama series is fictional but the story is not fiction and has a reality to it.

The girl has been hooked to the pills that she used in her childhood as a young girl growing up at the orphanage and she has not been able to let go of the pills ever since.
The pills seem to be taking charge of her life, and this causes extreme depression for her.
